All you need to know about Christmas in Mallorca

Christmas time in Mallorca is a time to relax, recharge and celebrate. Whether you choose to wind down over the holiday season or get busy in the spirit of the festivities, Mallorca offers a variety of things to see and do. The holidays in Mallorca are about spending time with family and friends, but there is also plenty of fun and things to do across the island!

While it's true that some resorts and restaurants choose to close over the winter months, there is no shortage of places that remain open and a vide variety of options and cuisines.

Shopping in Palma de Mallorca

Palma, lit up for the christmas season offers plenty of opportunity for enjoyable Christmas shopping, both high-end and high-street. For inspiring gift ideas, pop into Rialto Living in Palma. A treasure trove of interior items, Palma's first lifestyle store is a gorgeous space in which to browse delightful Christmas-themed items.

Things to do

There are a variety of Christmas Markets across city centre of Palma, including La Rambla, Plaza Mayor Pueblo Español and Sandberg's personal favourite at our local port, Puerto Portals. Take a trip to a Christmas market for a stroll around the, sipping hot mulled wine, or head off on a winter walk. Puerto Portals and Palma's Plaza Mayor both host wonderful markets, while Port Adriano is home to the only ice rink on the island.

Though rarely seeing snow, Mallorca's has a wonderfully crisp feel in December and January, with clear blue skies and beautiful sunsets. You'll find little bars and cafés in the smallest of villages, offering delicious local wines and homemade pastries.

Christmas Celebrations

Fiestas and firework displays take place in towns and villages across Mallorca, creating a wonderful atmosphere for families and children. Wherever you happen to be, when the clocks strike midnight, don't forget your grapes. The Spanish traditionally welcome the New Year in by eating one grape for each strike of the clock; it is said to bring prosperity and good luck.
